Hope - The reason for some to be alive

Hope is the reason why some people are alive. I wonder, if there was no hope, it would have been a different story altogether. Look into the eyes of needy, you will see hope.





I have seen hope in the eyes of a child in the slums. Hope that someone will come and make his/her life worth living. Don't you think this is the time when one should have toys to play, books to read and food to eat.

I have seen hope in the eyes of a mother sweeping floors in a bungalow. Hope that someday her family's life will become comfortable. Don't you think this is the time when she should have the right to be with her husband to see her children going to school every morning.

I have seen hope in the eyes of a father working at the road. Hope that his family will get all the necessities to be alive. Don't you think this is time when he should be planning the future of his children.

I have seen hope in the eyes of 70 year old lady begging for food. Hope that someone will come and fill her stomach. Don't you think this is the age when one should be at home being loved by their children, playing with their grandchildren.

It is the hope that keeps them alive. But who is going to fulfill their hopes?? Who is going to make them continue hoping?? Who will fill their stomach?? Who will make children go to school?? 

Well, don't you get the answer from within. That yes we can do it. Think about it. We don't need to do anything extra ordinary or spend heeps of money. Don't we waste food daily?? Can that be stopped?? Don't we buy our children new uniforms, bags, books when they get promoted to new class?? Can the older uniforms, bags, books be donated?? Don't we throw old things in garbage?? Can these be given to needy??

Isn't it simple?? But still we won't do it because we won't get any returns on that. Humanity no more exists.This is the irony of life.

Wait. We still have something left! whats that??

Its the "Hope". Hope we get some humanity back. Hope we make this world a better place to live.

Empowerment - The word that has lost its meaning

Empowerment the word that is misunderstood in a big way. Today when we talk about empowerment, it is more about giving reservations. Well I was of the opinion that empowering someone is about making them capable so that they can compete with others. Are we really empowering people by giving reservations? Just imagine a 100 meter race. There is a person who doesn't have fitness levels or training available to compete against the best. Now what our logic of empowering that person is let him start at 90 meter mark (I hope I am not being too optimistic here ;)). He will beat Usain bolt who starts at zero mark (10 meter against 100 meter, he should do that ;)). Wow we have just empowered a person to beat the best in the world. Really? Isn't it unfair to the person starting at zero? Maybe not to that extent as it is for the one who starts at 90.
