Butterfly – The Most Beautiful Fly

Stepping out of cocoon, to feel the sky
With charming looks, here comes the beautiful fly

Sitting on a flower for a while
It collects the sweetness with a smile

White, orange, yellow, red or green
So vibrant are the colors of this little queen

A gem from mother nature, with ambitions up so high
With charming looks, here comes the beautiful fly

Ready to take off with wings open wide
So elegant is it's fairy tail ride

It's a moving flower singing the silent song
It's a nature's way to carry happiness along

Creating moments of joy, so pleasing to the eye
With charming looks, here comes the beautiful fly

Not many sights are more beautiful than the butterflies flying all over flowers around you on a bright sunny day. The bright colorful wings & the designs that many of today's fashion designers would love to replicate in their work, make them one of the most attractive insects on earth. The fact that they do not bite like many other insects do, makes them even more lovable.

I feel proud to share some of the captures of this beautiful creature with you. All the shots have been taken at my village Channi Prat about 90 kilometers from the city of Jammu, India.

Found all over the world except only in Antarctica, butterflies add to the beauty of our mother nature. They also have a task in hand as any other living being in this world. They carry pollen grains from plant to plant to help flowers, fruits & vegetables to produce new seeds. On the other hand, being at the bottom of food chain they provide food to other insects & birds.

Butterflies vary in sizes from few centimeters to around 28 centimeters. What stands out is the variety of colors & patterns they put on display varying from plain soothing colors to bright shiny patterns.
These bright colors serve to protect them from predators. Apart from bright colors, some butterflies have the big eye like spots and others have transparent or leaf (plant) like colors that again help in protecting themselves.

Their agility & capability of flying in any direction in split seconds makes it very difficult to capture them specially if you don’t have a zoom lens. Sharing my experience, most of the times I had to chase them till the moment they realized “OK this guy is not bad, let’s pose for a photograph” 😉
The beauty of the flowers is enhanced when this painted lady visits them. So soothing to the eye, taking away all the sadness, you feel that momentary joy.

The whole setup is so graceful (sunlight, flowers & the butterflies), that even if you were in the worst of the moods, you just switch to a pleasing & enchanting experience.

While admiring the beauty of a butterfly, we should also keep in mind the stages that it has gone through to achieve it. The struggles of the caterpillar teach us a lesson for life that how courage & hard work takes us through. I will sum up that with the following line:

"Keep working hard with your goal in mind, the beautiful angel inside you will ultimately shine"
